Richard emigrated from England to St. Thomas, Ontario at age five. Joining LSTAR in 1989, he served as President of the Marketing Division in 1996 and has sat on the following committees, task forces and advisory groups: ICI; Appeal Panel; Professional Standards; Photo Library; Discipline; Technology; Political Action; PAC Issues Advisory; Government Relations; Key Box, Education; Bylaw and Finance. IN 2008, he chaired the Area Outreach Task Force. In 2010 Richard sits on the Government Relations Advisory Group and continues to chair the Area Outreach Task Force.

An enthusiastic advocate for the City of St. Thomas, Port Stanley and Elgin County, Richard logged eighteen years as a Member of the Elgin County Council and served as Reeve of Yarmouth Township. He has volunteered for the Kettle Creek Conservation Authority, the Heart and Stroke Association, the St. Thomas Chamber of Commerce, the Port Stanley Theatre and the Elgin/St. Thomas Home Builders Association. In addition, he has served as President and on the Board of Directors for both the St. Thomas United Way and the YMCA.

Richard and his wife, Helen, also a REALTORŽ, now make their home in Port Stanley, and work in the St. Thomas and Port Stanley area.
