LSTAR’s community service is targeted towards shelter-related charities. Our principal beneficiaries are:
- Mission Services of London
- The Unity Project
- Women's Community House
- Violence Against Women Services (Elgin County)
To date the Association has raised over a great deal of money for Mission Services through its enormously successful Homes for Hope® program.
LSTAR, working with CMHC, the City of London and Habitat for Humanity London, has just finished its third Home at Last renovation project. Learn more about the Home at Last program.
As of the end of 2011 and since 1992, we have raised the following sums for these worthy organizations:
- Mission Services of London = $270,506.20
- Unity Project = $86,109
- VAWSEC = $27,009
- Women's Community House = $27, 578
We also support the REALTORS Care Foundation by participating in its Every REALTOR® Campaign, by fundraising and by the bestowal of Fellowships. The REALTORS Care Foundation's mission is, "to advance the Foundation’s philanthropy by enabling REALTOR® members and Real Estate Boards to practise effective and ethical fundraising in support of shelter-related causes in Ontario." Shelter, as defined by the Foundation, "is a refuge, haven or protection that provides or improves quality of life from hunger, elements, physical/psychological abuse, disabilities and illness." In 2011, the Foundation was able to give out half a million dollars in grants to communities throughout the province.
