The London and St. Thomas Association of REALTORS® is committed to providing our Members with a dynamic and evolving suite of educational courses and continuous learning opportunities to support their business acumen and professionalism.
1. LSTAR Mandatory MLS® Rules and Regulations Class
In addition to ensuing new Members understand what is required of them under the various agreements and legislation, LSTAR hosts a mandatory orientation for all its Members to be taken within three months of their registration date.
2. LSTAR Computer Lab and Online Classes
LSTAR currently offers five courses (online only for the time being) that introduce, and look to maximize its Members’ use of, standard technological tools and services.
Attendees are introduced to the fundamentals and functions of Matrix (LSTAR’s MLS® System). This course includes instructions on how to create auto emails for buyers, preparing CMAs, conducting searches and market reports. This class is geared towards New Members and is a pre-requisite for all of the other LSTAR lab/online classes.
This comprehensive guide through WEBForms® will demonstrate how REALTORS® can create their own transactions, customize their own clauses, create custom templates, and be able to send those transactions to print, email or various e-signature programs.
- ADMIN Listing Load/ShowingTime
During this hands-on session, attendees will be taught how to upload their listing to the ITSO MLS® System. They will also learn how to use the software on the Association’s Computer Lab machines and/or their own devices. During the ShowingTime part of the session, participants will find out how to use Offer Registration, how to add Out-of-Town Agents in to ShowingTime, and how to have Sellers confirm their own appointments. This class is also available to Agents who require permission to make status changes and amendments to their listings, as requested by their Broker of Record.
- AGENT Listing Load/ShowingTime
Members will learn how to create a new residential listing data entry form - including photos and documents associated with the listing - and upload it to the MLS®. During the ShowingTime portion of the session, students will find out how to use Offer Registration, how to add Out-of-Town Agents in to ShowingTime, and how to have Sellers confirm their own appointments.
Attendees will learn about the New GeoWarehouse platform, which has more interactive functionality, including interactive mapping. This course is designed to give Agents the basics of site functions and resources.
New LSTAR Members may take the Matrix Class and WEBForms® Class as part of LSTAR’s orientation onboarding package at no additional cost. If the courses are not completed within three months, there will be a fee of $35.00 plus HST each.
There is a $25 “No Show” Fee for any Member and/or Administrative Staff who fail to attend without giving 24-hour notice.

3. LSTAR-CTS Fanshawe Learning Series
LSTAR and Fanshawe Corporate Training Solutions have partnered on a series of online learning courses to help REALTORS® gain more leads and better serve their clients.
These online self-study programs are designed to be completed at student’s own pace within three months of registration. Personalized learning is a benefit of asynchronous learning. A co-branded Certificate of Completion will be assigned to those who complete each course.
1. Digital Marketing for REALTORS®
- Module 1: Social Media for Business
Attendees will learn about real-world tactics used by marketers to collect leads and the type of content they have to post to gain clients, not followers.
- Module 2: Building Your Brand Online
Attendees will learn the key elements of creating an online presence that will build trust with potential clients and how to set up different online channels to represent their brands accurately.
- Module 3: Digital Marketing Analytics
Attendees will learn how to gain insights from the data they collect and the different tools used by REALTORS® to manage and nurture their leads.
2. Business Finance Management for REALTORS®
- Module 1: Basic Excel Skills
Attendees will learn how to create an Excel spreadsheet with headings and basic formatting and how to apply formulas to calculate real estate income and expenses.
- Module 2: Bookkeeping 101
Attendees will learn how to implement a record-keeping system for their real estate business and how to classify, calculate and analyze their monthly bookkeeping records.
- Module 3: Tax Preparation
Attendees will learn: how to examine their record-keeping documentation to ensure accurate and complete figures for year-end; and how to prepare and review a Tax Prep Checklist to ensure they have all of the data/documentation ready for tax filing.
Each module is $60 + HST, or Members may purchase three modules for $150 + HST (receiving a 50 percent discount on their third module). 4. LSTAR Webinars and Other Learning Opportunities
LSTAR regularly hosts webinars on timely and impactful subjects and provides additional learning opportunities in collaboration with other levels of organized real estate and external partners. These are often value-added (complimentary) for Members.
