We are excited to announce that applications for the 2025 LSTAR Scholarship are now being accepted. If you have children or grandchildren who will be attending university or college, we encourage you to share this incredible opportunity with them.
The LSTAR Scholarship offers four awards of $2,500 each, aimed at helping university-bound or college-bound students achieve their academic goals. This scholarship is designed to recognize students who demonstrate academic excellence, community involvement, maturity, responsibility, initiative, and strength of character.
Eligibility Criteria
To apply, the following conditions must be met:
- Applicants must be in their last year of high school or within two years of high school graduation, and must not yet be enrolled in a degree-granting or accredited post-secondary institution.
- Applicants must be registered and scheduled to attend a degree-granting or accredited institution.
- Applicants must be children, grandchildren, stepchildren, step-grandchildren, or under the legal guardianship of an LSTAR member or a member’s staff.
Application Submission Requirements
All applications must be submitted electronically. No hard copies will be accepted. The following documents are required:
- Ontario Student Transcript
- Last Mid-Term Report Card (showing all completed Grade 12 courses to date)
- Credit Counselling Summary (proof of volunteer hours and attendance record)
- Application Form (must be typed and submitted in Word or PDF format, unlocked with all password security removed)
Please note that handwritten applications or forms from past years will not be accepted.
Selection Process
Scholarship winners will be selected based on merit by a designated task force. The selection will take into account:
- Involvement in school and/or community
- Future plans (career education)
- Work experience, if applicable
- Difficulties overcome
- In the event that a winner is unable to register at a post-secondary institution, a runner-up will be selected.
Important Dates
- Application Deadline: Friday, May 30, 2025, at 4:30 PM.
- Applications received after the deadline will not be considered.
- Incomplete applications will result in a follow-up phone call or email to notify applicants of missing documents. Missing documents must be submitted by the deadline.
